The Nechako Rotary Club is the official Sponsor for Cottonwood Island Park in Prince George. Earlier in the spring, members of the Club, Ron Neukomm, Gary Gurnsey, Robert Guy and Ken Pendergast met with the City of Prince George Parks people to discuss plans to spend approximately $400 thousand dollars this summer replacing at least 3 bridges, two viewing platforms, trail and path repairs and general maintenance. The work has finally commenced with the placement of large steel girders for the first of the bridges. This bridge will replace the one at the confluence of both the Nechako and Fraser rivers, adjacent to the easterly parking lot. The "old" steel rail car structure originally used by the Nechako Club for this site has been removed, presumably to Bridge Heaven, where all old bridges go.
