Nechako Rotary outbound student, Joan Stephen, has just returned from her year long exchange in Brazil, and provided an exciting presentation with some slides to document her experiences.

Joan was hosted by a Brazilian Rotary Club, where all members spoke Portuguese and not a word of English, so it was baptism by fire for Joan to learn the language quickly.  Thankfully, her first host parents both spoke English and helped Joan with the language barrier during her first few months in Brazil.

Joan had a wonderful year, with opportunity to see and experience the culture, the cities, and the people, making many friends that she will Cherise and remember the rest of her life.

Joan has to repeat her grade 12 her in Prince George, as the year of school in Brazil, ended in mid term there.  Joan said "this is not a problem, and she really doesn't mind, as the experience was wonderful and she learned so much from the trip anyway, that repeating grade 12 here is Worth it.

Thank you Joan for your presentation and for being a great Ambassador for Prince George and Rotary.
