Elyse Donck

Nechako Rotary Club members were entertained this morning by our current Exchange Student, Elyse Donck from Belgium. 

Elyse provided a very interesting and enthusiastic presentation about the location of her homeland, Belgium, relative to the rest of the world and specifically Europe. 

Elyse is a very interesting and active student, and extremely proud of her homeland and loving family.  Elyse gave the Club an example of the Belgium "Anthem" as well as some descriptive remarks about some of the less known historical background of how the City of Brussels, their Capital, was saved from a serious bombing by the little boy now honored by a statue of "The Manneken Pis" better known as the Little Boy Peeing.  The little Boy put out the fuse to the bomb by peeing on the fuse before the bomb was detonated. 

Elyse has had a very interesting 7 months of her year in Prince George, and much of that time has been dedicated to sports activities including both Cross Country Skiing, Alpine Downhill Skiing or snow boarding and indoor Soccer.

Elyse had a very exciting opportunity to snowboard in unbelievable "Powder Snow" at both Powder King and Whistler.  Elyse had a short video of her experience with some of her fellow students enjoying this winter sport.

Elyse, you are a wonderful young woman, full of excitement and enthusiasm, and a proud Ambassador to your homeland Belgium.
