FUNDING CRITERIA ( March 2011)

1.                                Requests are only considered if they meet the following criteria:

                                    Project Assistance

                                    Benefit to the Community

                                    Further the good name of Rotary

                                    And are in the form of a written request

2 .                               Requests are not considered if they are for:

                                    Administrative costs

                                    Travel expenses outside of programs

                                    Operating costs

                                    Individuals

3.                               All requests are subject to availability of funds and demonstrated need.  Recognizing that Red Nose and Gaming Funds have very specific funding guidelines.

4.                             When projects seek partial funding from the Club, confirmation of  availability of the balance of the funds to the petitioning organization must be provided prior to dollars being dispersed, except in the case of tri-club initiatives where the word of the  president will be considered true.

5.                             Funding which sustains existing, worthwhile organizations, will be given              

preference.  New organizations will be well scrutinized to assure viability and longevity, before funding recommendation is considered.

  6. Even when requests meet the criteria, approval may be withheld for other valid reasons.

7.                               Requests which do not meet all aspects of the criteria may be recommended at the discretion of the Committee if the project is judged to have particular merit.

8 .                              Funding will be done in one shot and not in instalments.

9  .                             Applicants should first seek governmental or agency grants and Rotary funds must not be used to alleviate these quarters of their responsibilities

10.                           Preference shall be given to smaller projects rather than one or two large ones.

11.                           All requests will be dealt with in an expedient time frame of 30 days.

12 .                          There is no obligation to spend all funds during the chairmanship year.

Ø      The mentally or physically challenged

Ø      Seniors and the elderly

Ø      Youth and adolescents

Ø      Medical equipment

Ø      Literacy

Ø      Drug and alcohol abuse prevention

Ø      First nations issues

Ø      Poverty

Ø      Health and wellness

Ø      Public safety

Volunteer Time (hours):

Ø      Environment

Ø      Seniors and the elderly

Ø      Youth and adolescents

Ø      Medical equipment

Ø      Literacy

Ø      Drug and alcohol abuse prevention

Ø      First nations issues

Ø      Poverty

Ø      Health and wellness

Ø      Public safety

Ø      The mentally or physically challenged

Major Projects

Ø      Physical projects ie. Cottonwood Island

Ø      Social Projects

Ø      International Projects
