World Baseball Challenge 2013

Rotarian Jim Swanson and his guest Shawn Rice spoke to the Nechako Rotary Club about the World Baseball Challenge.

The World Baseball Challenge has been hosted successfully in Prince George in 2009 and 2011, although the weather was less than cooperative in 2011, with 10 full days of rain.

The Nechako Rotary Club has been a proud supporter of this event for those two years, co-sponsoring the "Kids Training Camp" during this event.

The Training Camp is put on through volunteer support from the "Blue Jays" providing real hands on training to many of our young baseball enthusiasts in Prince George.

The 2013 World Baseball Challenge promises to be another 10 days of excellent baseball from August 13th to 23rd.  The dates were moved to this time slot to accommodate the teams coming from Cuba and Japan, as they are key participants in these games.

The World Baseball Challenge is built on the backs of volunteers like Jim and Shawn.  Rotarians are welcome to once again get involved in some of the volunteer activities, such as helping to support the individual visiting teams.
