World Baseball Challenge

Shawn Rice, Marketing Director for the Prince George World Baseball Challenge held in July 2009, provided a series of picture slides of the event including the various Sponsors, action shots and pictures of the Kids Camp training. The three Prince George Rotary Clubs were the Sponsors of the 4 day Kids Camp program, where over 100 local boys and girls were provided 4 days of rigorous training in baseball by professional trainers in the basics of baseball. Many of the parents came out as spectators as well as helping with some of the logistics during these four days of camp. The camp has received very positive reviews from the kids and their parents as one of the best opportunities they have had in Prince George to assist these young people learn the basics of the game as well as sportsmanship. The World Baseball Challenge will take place again in 2011 in Prince George. Rotary has first rights to continue as the Sponsor for this event in 2011. The World Baseball Challenge provided some items of clothing that were auctioned to our members, with the proceeds designated to Shelter Box program specific to "Have a Heart for Haiti." $160.00 was raised through this auction. Shawn was presented with a certificate by the Club making a Donation to our Shelter Box Canada project.
