Dennis Spurgin from the Rotary Club of Palm Springs - Sunup joins us this Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7:30 a.m. to discuss Project Peanut Butter, a program to treat and cure children of Severe and Acute Malnutrition.
SAM kills more than 3.5 million children worldwide each year. More children die of SAM each year than of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria combined. But, on the brighter side, we are very near to finding a global solution to SAM. It is as simple as a jar of specially developed peanut butter known as “Ready-to-use Therapeutic Food” (RUTF).
Project Peanut Butter, spearheaded by Spurgin, has received funding from Rotary clubs around the world, including the Nechako Rotary Club, along with support from the World Health Organization.
