Prince George Official Community Plan

Dan Milburn is a Professional Planner with the City of Prince George.  One of his duties is to guide the process of creating and reviewing the Prince George Official Community Plan. (OCP)

The OCP is a 15 year planning process with 5 year reviews required.  This document is used as the City "Framework for Land Use and Planning Statements and Map Designations."

The OCP is being updated this year in conjunction with information and process completed through "MyPG"

The process is actually a 4 stage program consisting of consultation, public review and finally to City Council for endorsement.

The OCG is currently on display as part of the Public Review Process, where citizens of PG have the ability to review and provide feedback to the City, prior to the final draft being prepared for Council this fall. 

Dan informed the Nechako Club that the current Census for PG is approximately 70,500 people with a current growth rate of between .8 and 1% per year.  This census is still down from the City population high of about 10 years ago.

Prince George is still a relatively young community with an average age of just over 40 years.  This is one of the stats that PG can still boast about despite the fact that the community is continuing to age with older residents remaining in PG after they retire.  The over 65 group is expected do double in the city by the year 2038.
