Prince George Construction Assoc.

Rosalind Thorn is the President of the BC Construction - North Association which also includes the Prince George Construction Association. 

Both Rosalind and Melissa Jackson, Regional Manager of Skill Trade Employment Programs for the BCCA, provided some comprehensive information regarding the Construction Industry in the north. 

The North is the usual large area covering everything in the northern part of the Province from Williams Lake to the Yukon and Alberta borders, and west to the Charlotte's.

The Prince George Construction Association was chartered in 1958 and has been a huge help to the industry over these past decades, assisting people in the construction industry with everything including assistance with plans, document preparation and bidding on projects, with some of the latest INTERNET technology to streamline and speed up the processes.

A large component of the assistance is also in the area of health and safety, where the BCCA helps provide Safety Training to workers in the industry.

Another large portion of their work is around the area of Apprenticeships assisting the industry in training and recruiting new people into the many skilled trades required to carry out the work.  This work includes many facets including the operation of heavy equipment to carpenters, plumbers, concrete workers, electricians etc.

Both Rosalind and Melissa explained the huge financial contribution to the northern region which amounts to something in the order of $65 Billions dollars, when including the many very large programs in the mining, pipeline, smelting etc. businesses that most people don't include when thinking about the construction industry.
