Pidherny Recreation Site

Liam Baker, Manager of the PG Cycle Club and Megan Broswick, Safety Coordinator for the PG Cycle Club presented an overview of the 650 Ha. Pidherny Recreational Site.

This Pidherny Recreational Site is the area that the PG Cycle Club have used for many years for Mountain Biking, Dirt Biking and Hiking.  The site is located on the north side of the Nechako bench off of Foothills.  The site is shared and supported by a number of organizations including:

The PG Cycle Club

Ministry of Lands, Forests & Natural Resources

Ministry of Transportation

Woodlot Owner for part of the area

First Nations

PG Golf & Curling Club, holding rights to part of the area for the new Golf Course

City of Prince George

The PG Cycle Club currently has about 120 members, plus 60 young novice riders called "Sprockets".

Total Mountain Biker users for the Pidherny Recreation Site is estimated to be approximately 500 people.

The Site is currently as mass of trails being used and maintained by the Club in varying stages of development. 

The PG Cycle Club have plans to improve the site with a lengthly "Downhill" trail that requires extensive machine construction work, as well as a beginner run of about 750 metres that will assist new riders in developing Mountain Biking Skills.   

The Club also requires construction of a suitable parking lot adjacent to the Foothills Drive to allow users to safely park their automobiles while they ride the trails.

The PG Cycle Club is continually seeking funding through projects such as Bottle Drives etc, and is seeking funding from potential sponsors such as the Nechako Rotary Club to assist with these developments.
