Ashley Stoppler, Manager of the Northern Health Connections Program provided a very interesting and detailed presentation regarding the busing services provided to clients throughout Northern BC. Northern Health provide comprehensive bus service to people to and from most of the communities throughout northern BC for medical purposes. Over 30,000 clients have recieved transportation during the past three years. The service is based on a budget value of $13.00 per person. However, the cost of service delivery is provided on average, to people between the ages of 40 and 80 years of age at a cost of between $20.00 and $80.00 per person depending on their place of residence. Over all, Ashley reports people are relatively satisfied with the service, with some people having to spend up to 8 hours on a bus getting to their destination. Ashley also reports that the drivers seem to go out of their way to provide extra care and attention to people in need during their transportation. Ashley was thanked for her presentation by Rotarian Larry Parker. with a donation to our Shelter Box Canada Program.
