Lloyd Clay

Rotarian Lloyd Clay and his wife Adene just returned from a 3 week holiday in China. 

Lloyd was asked on the spur of the moment to provide a short presentation on their experiences in China, and as normal, Lloyd kept his presentation to a short 4 minutes. 

The trip to China was fantastic, despite the fact that the schedule and the pace was action packed from early morning to late at night every day.

They experienced time on the Yangtze River, recently dammed by a huge structure providing 5 locks for the passage of ocean going ships carrying supplies and products in and out of the country.

The trip included walking tours and water taxi's where tourists had opportunity to see some structures that were 700 years old, and new structures created to accommodate the millions of people that had to be moved as a result of the flooding of the Yangtze into a huge man made lake and shipping corridor.

The trip started in Shanghai and ended with tours in and around Beijing, including the huge and magnificent Great Wall of China.

Lloyd indicated one shortfall of the trip was the fact they could never see the blue sky due to the heavy smog that occurs around China constantly.  The smog was likened to a person smoking 2 packs of cigarettes a day.
