International Arctic Social Sciences Association
Two distinguished UNBC professors, Gail Fondahl, PhD, and Gary Wilson, PhD, spoke to the Nechako Rotary Club this morning about the "International Arctic Social Sciences Association (IASSA).
Both Gail and Gary are affiliated with the IASSA from a practical and an academic background.
The IASSA has been in existence since 1992, with over 600 members, representing 30 countries. Although most of the members come from an Academic background, some are more practitioners and anyone is welcome to get involved in the organization. a person may find additional information on IASSA through the website at:
The IASSA holds an International Congress every 3 years in a different country. The event has been held in Canada before, but never in Prince George.
On May 20th to 24th, 2014, The IASSA International Congress will be hosted in Prince George at UNBC.
It is expected that most of the membership of the IASSA will attend, plus other registrants, with 4 to 5 hundred people converging on Prince George for the 4 day Congress.
Although the event is being hosted at UNBC, there will be ample opportunity for the public to be involved and interact with the registrants in the Congress.
Additional information will be made available to Rotary as it becomes available.
Both Gail and Gary were thanked by Rotarian Dean Simpson, with another donation to our Polio Plus Program.
