HST - the Effect to Registered Charities, Home Based Business and Personal Taxes
Judy Tindill is the comptroller for the Prince George Library, as well as sharing a partnership in a Home Based Business where she and her partner build new homes for sale.
Judy is also a consumer, like everyone else in BC both as a private citizen and purchasing all of the lumber, construction materials and commodities relative to new home construction.
Judy provided her experience with the HST in all of these scenarios and some reflection on the implications of what would be necessary to go back to the old Provincial Sales Tax (PST) system.
The return of the PST would cost tax payers a Billion Dollars and take something up to 18 months to re-establish, where we would have a tax system that was difficult for business and really not much cheaper, if any, than the HST that is under heavy debate in BC.
Each house hold is currently receiving Ballot Forms, asking BC Citizens to cast their vote as to whether you are in favour of extinguishing the HST and reinstating the PST in conjunction with the GST.
The choice is yours. Hopefully some of the comments from Judy have helped to make your decision.
Judy was thanked by Rotarian Leona Anderson, with a donation to our Polio Plus Campaign.
