Herb's or Erb's
Jackie Piment is a gardener with many years of experience, both during her years in Burns Lake and more recently here in Prince George, where she now makes her home.
The use of the term "Herb" is quite correct in north America, where as the Brits apparently use the term "Erb".
Jackie and her late husband Al Piment, retired from the BC Forest Service, started their love of herbs and flowers while living on a large property in Burns Lake. They managed to make the love of plants into a profitable business. Jackie indicated the sale of products was primarily through word of mouth though as their home in Burns Lake was to removed from the Farmers Market in Prince George, and the prime growing season was relatively short, with frost free days only occurring in the month of July.
This was Jackie's second presentation to the Nechako Rotary Club, where she has had the opportunity to speak to the club about her expertise. Jackie is also a member of the UNBC Botanical Garden Society.
Jackie was thanked for her informative presentation by Rotarian Dolly Hilton, with another donation to our Polio Plus Program.
