Duchess Park School Black Boards

Duchess Park teacher Mr. Gerry Chidiac and some of his students were discussing the demise and disposal of some of the equipment located in the old Duchess Park School. Some of this equipment was identified as surplus and required to disposed of. The students indicated that it would be opportune for items such as books and Black Boards, if they could be shipped to a country where these items could be used and appreciated. Members of the Nechako Rotary Club were contacted by Mr. Chidiac, and arrangements made to haul all these Black Boards to the Art Knapp Plantland warehouse for storage in preparation for further shipment to Vancouver's World Health Network Warehouse. The Black Boards, books, medical Equipment, office equipment and 168 sewing machines were transported, compliments of Jos Van Hage from Art Knapp's, to Vancouver, where it was ultimately shipped by container to Africa. The attached picture, taken by Allison Fedorkiw, Director of The Humanity Exchange, during her current trip to Africa, demonstrated the fact that the Black Boards arrived and are very much appreciated by the people in Monrovia, Africa.
