Carnival of Venice

Rotarians Gail MacLaren and Deanna Whissell provided the Nechako Club with some entertainment and Trivia during the morning meeting, with a Valentine's Day Presentation around the History of Masks created initially in 1296 to help people from different cultures and classes to communicate and do business.

The concept was successful in helping people operate in a forum of neutrality and anonymity to a point of where it helped in both business and "monkey business".

The wearing of masks was eventually banned in Venice until 1976, when people were again allowed to wear the garment, often with other costume apparel.

It is said that up to 3 million people visit Venice regularly to see and participate in the "Carnival of Venice."

Gail and Deanna provided a "Quiz" following the presentation to see how many Rotarians were paying attention to details, with prizes for some of them that were.

Both Dolly Hilton and Rhonda Berg were recipients of prizes for the Quiz.
