Guest Speaker Tamara Sweet provided a great presentation regarding the Canadian Blood Services. The role of blood donation is relatively simple but not well understood by the public in BC. Tamara indicates that a person giving blood can save up to three persons every hour due to the fact that the blood is separated into specific components and each of those three components can help to save a life. Unfortunately, many people in BC are not blood donor's said Tamara, unlike many other provinces such as Alberta. Therefore, BC is required to import blood from other provinces to meet the needs of BC residents. Rotarian Mark Feldinger thanked Tamara for her presentation with a donation to our Shelterbox Canada Program.
