African Safari

Another Prince George resident has returned home with some wonderful pictures and stories of their Safari in Africa.
Norm MacDonald is a well know resident of Prince George that spent a number of weeks in Africa, part of which was participating with his wife and two other travelers on a Safari in Zimbabwe, Africa.
This is a special Safari where people stay in a number of different camps during the trip, but their accommodations are canvas tents, and the kitchen and shower facilities are also canvas shelters.
Norm has some amazing pictures of the animals, birds and reptiles they observed during the Safari. Many from as close as a few feet away, while they were in the protective cover of an open vehicle.
Norm cautions that they were not allowed out of the vehicles during the day to walk around, so the animals would not attack them.
They were also not allowed to leave their tents during the night, despite the fact they could hear animals moving around the camp area.
The camp was protected by lighted lamps placed strategically around the camp site and tent facilities, to ward off animals. No other form of protection was visible, not even a rifle.
Norm did mention that their is some snakes and stuff in Africa, but they never saw any during their trip.
Norm was thanked for his presentation by Rotarian Harold Spensley, with another donation to our Polio Plus Program.
