Ted wished everyone a Happy Passover and Easter

 

 

. Ted announced that Libby’s dad, Elwin Thomson, passed away.  Services will be held at Eaton’s on Thursday, April 13^th from 10-11am with a Celebration of his Life from 11-12.

. Karen is working with Gloria Greis of the Needham Historical Society on a history of Needham Rotary.  Get any materials to Karen to be included in the display.

. Newton will be sponsoring an exchange student from Rome.  They are looking for hosts.  Let Ted know if you can host.

. We will have a booth at the NBA Street Fair on Saturday, June 3 from 10:00-3:00.  We will sell raffle tickets at the booth.

. On May 13 we will be working with Needham Community Farm in repairing their beds.  Remember to wear mud boots and bring tools.

. Reality Fair will be held on May 22 at Needham High School from 8:30-12:00.  Rich needs members to help at the tables.

. The Exchange Club is sponsoring a golf tournament at the Marlboro Country Club to benefit the Charles River Center on May 22.  Rich, Marty and Bill will play.  They will ask Ryan to be fourth.  Players will pay their own $195 fee.

. Charles River Center is holding their gala on May 5^th, at Weston in Waltham.  Louise and Kathy will be attending.  Louise had raffle tickets for $5.

. 4^th grade Arbor Day will be week of April 24.  However, this is MCAS week so it will have to be fit into their schedule. 

. RI District Conference will be April 28-30 in Providence, RI.  Come for all or part of the weekend.  John Germ will be speaker on Friday night.  Ted is looking for someone to represent us at the business meeting.

. Needham Rotary will be sponsoring a CARNIVAL in the Needham High School upper parking lot the weekend of July 7-9.  We will need 2 people to man 2 booths for 2 hour shifts all weekend.  Charles will arrange schedule.  Bill is doing the publicity with Chuck.  Chuck has designed banners to be hung on Chapel St in June and July.  Brad will speak with Channel 5.

. Bill Paulson will be president elect after Marty, 2018-2019.  Thanks Bill

. We will begin putting together a basket for the $1,000 worth of scratch tickets.  We hope to start selling raffle tickets at the Street Fair on June 3^rd or Labor Day weekend Soccer Tournament.

. Dick Mamalis completed his project in Honduras.

. Rotary Board will meet again on May 3^rd in Bill’s office at 140 Gould St., rear.  ALL WELCOME.

. Louise reported that the next NBA speaker will be Attorney Charles Long.  He will speak on Estate Planning on Wednesday, April 19 at 7:30am at Wingate Residences.

 

HAPPY DOLLARS:  Charles happy to be here; Chuck happy for great weather, table and meeting; Andy happy no jacket required and for his upcoming trip to London next week; Roz & Kathy happy for beautiful day; Louise wants us to keep smiling; Ken wished us Happy Passover and Easter; Paula welcomed our guests and Tom is glad to be here but had to leave early and gives thanks to Salem Five for helping him pay it forward.

 

50/50 drawing: Our speaker drew ticket; Kathy Reilly had number but did not draw the lucky card.  Better luck next week.  $489 in pot this week.

Guest Speaker:  Dave Zeltserman, guest speaker has written many books.  “Small Crimes”, a dark mystery, will be shown on NETFLIX soon.  He played the trailer for us.  His inspiration comes from reading crime news stories and playing “What If” games.  He has a new series coming soon called “Deranged”, written under pseudonym of Jacob Stone.  He also writes Ellery Queen stories.
