Don MacIver, President of the Littleton Conservation Trust, talked to the club about the purpose and history of the Trust. It is a private land trust formed in 1962 to promote Littleton's rural character; to preserve its water, plant and wildlife resources and its unique views; and to provide environmental education.
Don continued his presentation with a review of the various properties that are included in the trust. The Trust is caretaker of over 300 acres of property all gifted from residents. The Trust manages a system of trails on these properties for public use.

The mission of the Littleton Conservation Trust is to:
  • Preserve the natural heritage of Littleton through protection of property;
  • Educate the citizens of the town about their natural heritage;
  • Manage all the LCT properties in the best interests of people and wildlife; and
  • Cooperate with town boards and other organizations to assure adequate open space for town citizens now and for future generations.
