The Appleman Triathlon will take place on Sunday, July 20, from 8:00 am to noon, starting and ending at Long Lake Beach in Littleton. This is the Rotary Club of Littleton’s largest fundraiser. 100% of the net proceeds from this race (and from all of our fundraisers) are used to support our Club’s charitable projects and volunteer activities to help many Littleton organizations, including our seniors, veterans, school programs and scholarships, children in need of beds (through our Deb’s Beds program), and many more projects affecting our neighbors far and wide. This year’s Appleman is dedicated to all of our generous sponsors. Without your help, we would not be able to do most of the charity work we do all year round.
More than 450 participants are expected to show up for this year’s race. This event puts Littleton on the map and celebrates the accomplishments of hundreds of athletes who have competed over the past 20 years.
The Appleman Triathlon is a sprint event involving the completion of three sequential endurance races: a half-mile swim, a 10-mile bike ride, and a 3-mile run. Competitors range from casual teams from families and businesses to dedicated individuals who compete in multiple events nationally and, in some cases, internationally. While top finishers in each age- and gender-specific class are recognized, the goal of most of the competitors is to improve their personal best times. Race timing and logistics are handled by NEI (New England Timing), a well-known local producer of multisport competitions with more than 17 years of race production experience. The race is sanctioned by USA Triathlon, the national sanctioning body for triathlons in the USA and sponsor of the USA Olympic Triathlon Team.
