We opened the meeting with the Pledge and the Four Way Test.  Randy Rudasics was our Greeter today, thank you Randy and although we did not have any visiting Rotarians, we welcomed our two Exchange Students and a number of guests.

Winnie provided the Thought for the Day, ponderings, quotes and reminders of how “Gratitude” plays such an important role in our lives.  Just during our meeting, several members offered how grateful they were for a number of things and reflected on Winnie’s theme, thank you Winnie.

Angela Catterson, Accountant, our Club Bookkeeper and NO, she doesn’t do taxes and Steve Sehnert, retired, volunteer and golf enthusiast provided our Steamboat Minute on Tuesday.

Announcements included Gillian asking folks to put September 18th on their calendars for flower barrel pick up, please meet at Howelsen.  Gillian has chaired this committee for several years, with the assistance of Kathy Elliott and others, but would very much like to find a willing and energetic Rotarian to take it on.  If you are at all interested in discovering what is involved, please join Gillian at this event and work along beside her – co-chairs would be better yet!

Margret, our new Exchange Student from Iceland, presented her flag from her home Rotary Club.  We are currently redesigning our Club flag and will be presenting one to her when it is complete.

Bethany Karulak delivered birth to beautiful little girl, Teal, on August 23rd.  She and all the family are back at home.  Congratulations Bethany, Perry and Nico!

We enjoyed one more Classification Talk on Tuesday, presented by Tiffany Leeson.  Her story of sports, injuries, recoveries and how it changed the course of her life captivated the attention of all.  Once again we are never disappointed in hearing about our members.  Nice job Tiffany!

The second part of our program was the presentation by Ellen and Eric of our new attendance policy.  They reviewed it with us, provided time for questions and also small group discussions.  This policy was the result of the work by a task force that has been meeting over the past few months.  It is a very liberal policy, and one we feel every member can follow.  Our Club thrives on the interaction between members and we believe meeting attendance to be of high importance.  Ellen will be sending out the digital form of the policy.

Michelle Garner did Good News for us and as there were a number of $50 announcements, our scholarship fund should be a little healthier this week.  Thank you Michelle for stepping up.

Next week meeting is at the Grand and Adam Alspach, from The Education Fund Board, will be our speaker.

Enjoy your holiday weekend and see you next Tuesday,

Carol Johnson
