A Global Grant enabled our club to sponsor 50 young people 16-18 in the art of Entrepreneurship at 2 different schools in Harare, Zimbabwe. Both Schools are in the Hatcliffe suburb, a challenged area of Harare where the AIDS scourge has resulted in many orphans and one parent families. The entrepreneurship programme is supplied and monitored by the Junior Achievement (Young Enterprise in UK) programmes The programme teaches students how to raise capital, identify a product, source materials for the product, manufacture and market as well as advertise and sell. During the course the 5 managers in charge of - Managing, Human Resources, Production and Financial control are coached in their roles as they prepare for the AGM. Here they repay the shareholders at the end of their 6 month experience. They will also have paid tax - to the school and given a contribution to society - their Corporate Social Responsibility role.
