ATTENDANCE – There were 18 Farmington Rotarians in attendance, plus one guest – Phil Davis, an Agnelli realtor whom Treasurer Elizabeth Sheridan met at her BNI group.

ANNOUNCEMENTS – Elizabeth reported we already have $3,000 more in committed sponsorships for the 5K Race on the Trails than we did in last year’s 5K Road Race. This year’s Race on the Trails will be 9 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 23, at Tunxis Mead Park.

Despite the increased sponsorship, President Jenn Diederich made a plea for us to gather even more sponsors. She passed out a hand-drawn map of Farmington with designated commercial areas where potential sponsors are located. She asked members to check the areas where they will seek new sponsors. She also passed out new folders with 8 X 10 posters announcing the race that could be hung in store windows. The folders also include sponsor information.

President Jenn added that members who volunteer at the race will need to assemble at Tunxis Mead by 7 a.m. in preparation for the 9 a.m. start of the race.

Treasurer Elizabeth, meanwhile, thanked all members who have paid their annual dues. Only three members still haven’t paid, she said.

ANNIVERSARIES – Gabey and Johnnie Giblin are celebrating their wedding anniversary this week.

RAFFLE – Brendan Goodrich had the winning ticket, but pulled the nine of diamonds from the deck of playing cards instead of the ace of spades and therefore lost the $100 pot.

HAPPY BUCKS – Donations were made in honor of Mike Cheshire’s fancy, colorful socks; the Race on the Trails Committee; the Red Sox; President Jenn and Treasurer Elizabeth’s efforts; our guest; Bette Case’s oldest granddaughter attending college; President Jenn’s stylish hat; and for Rose Ponte’s “God story” that she told to her tablemates.
