Martin B. Cominsky has been the President and CEO of Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston, a United Way agency, since 2015. IM collaborates with Houston’s faith community to feed and care for 4,400 homebound seniors through its Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston program; resettles hundreds of refugees from war-torn countries; and fosters youth and community dialogue between and among religions. IM also operates Volunteer Houston, a Points of Light affiliate, which matches people with their passions at area non-profit organizations with a registry of over 100,000 volunteers. He leads a $17 million nonprofit agency with 172 employees.

Previously, Martin served as the Director of the Southwest Region of the Anti-Defamation League, which is headquartered in Houston. Martin was responsible for directing the League’s efforts to combat prejudice, hate and anti-Semitism in this dynamic region. At ADL, Martin developed the school-focused No Place for Hate® program, which now engages and recognizes more than 300 schools in the region in the effort to create K-12 campuses that emphasize respect for diversity and inclusion.

Prior to joining the ADL in 1999, Martin founded the SERVE HOUSTON YOUTH CORPS, which was an AmeriCorps program that recruited high school graduates to serve as tutors and mentors to students in under-resourced schools. Serve Houston received Daily Points of Light Award #1112 for its creative national service work.

In the past, Martin served as the National Director of the Business Volunteers for the Arts program, headquartered in New York City, bringing together the expertise of corporate executives with nonprofit arts organizations. Martin also served as the Assistant to the President of the University of Houston.

Martin has a B.A. from the University of Houston in Journalism, graduating with membership in the UH Honors College, and earned his M.B.A. from Southern Methodist University. He participated in Class XXV of the American Leadership Forum. He is Past Chair of the University of Houston Honors College Advisory Board and is Vice Chair at the Meals on Wheels Association of Texas. Martin was also named as a Most Admired CEO in 2018 by the Houston Business Journal.

Martin graduated in 1976 as a Pasadena High School Eagle. He had many happy times serving as Junior and Senior Class President and was named Mr. Pasadena High School. He received the Pasadena Independent School District Distinguished Alumnus Award of the Year in 2003 and the Pasadena High School Hall of Fame award in 2015.

He is married to Terry and is the proud father of twins.
