Women Empowering Nations (WEN) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with an objective to strengthen communities by educating and inspiring young women. WEN’s mission is to provide exposure and mentorship for young women of color in underserved communities and to develop them into socially conscious global leaders. Dawn Brown serves as the Houston Girls Leading Our World (G.L.O.W.) Program Director for Women Empowering Nations as well as a member of the board of directors.

Dawn began serving with WEN in 2009 after learning about the organization’s goal to give every girl the space to believe in herself, chase her dreams and magnify her voice. Dawn aspires to touch and impact girls’ lives through service, while also inspiring them to be servant leaders equipped with resources and skills to transform their communities. Through WEN, Dawn has been responsible for leading the G.L.O.W. mentoring program at Yellowstone Academy in Houston. In addition, she has served as a leader on past WEN travel leadership conferences to Gambia, Amsterdam, and Tanzania.

Dawn is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor of science degree in Biochemistry & holds a Masters of Chemical Engineering from Prairie View A&M University. Dawn is the co-owner of Math-A-Matics Tutoring, LLC. She is the wife of Jermaine Brown and the mother of their 1 year old son.
