Weekly Meals - A big THANK YOU to Carol Conover for all she does to coordinate our weekly meals. Due to an increase in attendance at the meetings, we are increasing the number of meals delivered each week. At last week's board meeting, the board discussed our current guest lunch policy and wanted to share it with our members. As a reminder, with the exception of the invited program speaker, all others (guests, visiting Rotarians, potential members, members) are expected to pay the meal fee. We would also like to remind our members that Carol is the only person authorized to speak to restaurants on our behalf in regards to meals.
District Conference - Thanks to STR members Amanda Folmar, Diane Kavanaugh, Marla Boren, Beth Blaisdell, Tom DeWitt, Lee Montgomery, John Hart, Hagan Patterson and Chris McLarry for attending the District Conference last weekend in Longview. Also joining us were Rotarian spouses Ann DeWitt, Dillon Folmar and Nancy Hart. We exchanged ideas, met Rotarians from across the District, picked up some new ideas and helped raise almost $10K for Polio Plus.
New Member induction - If you missed last week's meeting, you didn't see President Amanda Folmar induct 5 new members to South Tyler Rotary. Welcome new members!

Our speaker on October 22nd is TCU mainstay John Denton.
2018 marks his 30th year with the TCU Network as the Frogs’ longest-tenured broadcaster. Over the course of his career, Denton has worked as a TV analyst for college football and basketball for ESPN and has drawn additional assignments from Westwood One and CBS Radio Sports on their coverage of various college bowl games, the NCAA Basketball Tournament, NFL Monday Night Football, NFL Playoffs, WNBA, Major League Baseball's Game of the Week and the College World Series.
He’s worked more than 350 college football games and 32 post-season games including the Cotton, Orange, Fiesta and Rose Bowls. On the hardwood, Denton has worked more than 400 college basketball games, including multiple NCAA Tournaments. (and the 2018 NCAAs with the Frogs!)
In 2007, he received the Lindsey Nelson National Outstanding Broadcaster Award from the All-American Football Foundation and he is a seven-time recipient of the Best Play-by-Play Award from the Texas Associated Press.
Denton, a four-year starter as a kicker and punter for the Horned Frogs from 1981-84, spends his time away from broadcasting as Director of Major Gifts for TCU Athletics.
He and his wife, Linda, have two daughters: Erin, a sophomore Nursing Major at TCU, and Meredith, a freshman at TCU.
