International Peace Building Updates

Tammy Haas lives in Whitehous with her husband Vern, also a Rotarian, and their two mini-Aussies. She is semi-retired from American Family Insurance preceded by a long career in banking as a commercial lender.

She has been in Rotary for over 24 years and is a member of the South Tyler Rotary Club where is Membership Chair.  At her prior club in Washington State, she served as Club President from 2011 to 2012, was on the Membership Committee, their District Peacebuilding Committee, and is a member of the Rotarian Action Group for Peace. She and Vern have also hosted numerous Rotary exchange students.

Tammy is our District's International Peace Chair. 

She is also currently the volunteer Executive Director for Creating Friendships for Peace, a program highly supported by the Rotary Action Group for Peace and Rotary Club’s in various states.   During Tammy’s tenure as Executive Director, she was instrumental in the growth of the program both in Cyprus and in Israel.   She is committed to Rotary International’s Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution focus. She was selected and completed training in Istanbul, Turkey in February 2025 at the Presidents International Peace Conference as a Rotary Positive Peace Activator serving the Middle East and Northern Africa regions. This is a volunteer role with a commitment of 2 years. Rotary International is focused on Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution so as a result Tammy will share her knowledge of the Rotary Action Group for Peace, her role as our District Peace Chair and how Peace Poles can be a terrific project to undertake in the communities we serve.
