District 5830 hosts two RYLA camps on consecutive weekends, where counselors provide leadership training to approximately 90 kids each weekend. Every year, 180 students from District 5830 attend this brief 2.5-day camp, from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon.
After reviewing applications and interviewing all the candidates, we selected two students from Quitman and one from Yantis ISD.
In the past, we typically chose all our candidates from Quitman. However, since our membership is now split between the two ISDs, we decided to add Yantis.
As in previous years, both the students' parents and the Rotarians involved in the selection process were amazed at the transformation in these young adults after attending RYLA.
