Starting in May 2023, Quitman Rotary Club has been organizing blood drives at FUMC Quitman's JOY Hall.
Five donor events are arranged throughout the year (January, March, May, August and October) to align when local ISDs are in session, separated by at least 60 days and avoiding the yearend Holiday season.
Why 60 days? This allows donors to donate at the next event!
Each drive is held from 10am to 3pm and has 35 appointments available for donors to reserve.
A blood donation takes about 30 minutes for the pre physical and blood draw. The blood draw typically requires 10-15 minutes to donate a pint of whole blood.
IF the donor is Type O blood, they might be asked to donate a ‘double red’. This process requires 25-30 minutes and only the red blood cells are donated while the plasma and platelets are returned to the donor. Do not worry, it is a single needle that is used.

Currently (July 2026), blood products are in short supply across the US. Here is a July 2026 article I wrote for our District's monthly newsletter. IF YOU CAN DONATE, PLEASE DO!

Find a locale blood drive from your zip code. This will show all drives in the coming 4-6 weeks within 30 miles of the supplied zip code. Donor can order by date or mileage from their zip code.
Each donor event has a registration link for that specific drive to RSVP your time.
Below is a link with lots of other information and you can supply a zip code from within the US to locate Blood Centers that have blood drives (not just Carter BloodCare's Territory)
