The internationally-acclaimed Harlem Ambassadors will be visiting Cortland for an exhibition basketball game and show at Lakeview High School on Monday, October 29, at 6:30 PM, as a stop on their 10th Anniversary Tour.

The Harlem Ambassadors offer a unique brand of Harlem-style basketball, featuring high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball-handling tricks, and hilarious comedy routines. The Ambassadors are led by seven-year veteran Ketrick "Juggling Jazz" Copeland and features the delightful "Lil' T" Turner, one of the teams only female show players.

The Ambassadors also feature several talented male basketball players that are drug-free, college educated and positive in appearance, who will play against members of our new hometown basketball team, the Mosquito Lakers.

For the past decade, the Harlem Ambassadors have shared their amazing basketball skills and comedy genius with communities around the world.  A major focus of the Ambassadors is to serve as positive role models for youth. "Kids are heavily involved in all of our shows," Jazz said. "We try to get every kid in the gym involved in the show in some way or another by playing games, dancing, or just sitting on our bench and meeting our players."

The Ambassadors set themselves apart from other "Harlem-style" basketball teams by working with local not-for-profit and community service organizations and holding Harlem Ambassadors shows as community fundraising events.  For the Cortland event, the Ambassadors will be partnering with local community service organizations, churches and businesses to help raise funds for Cortland Area Cares, which is the largest food bank in the Cortland and Bazetta area.  Cortland Area Cares provides food and personal care items for a growing number needy individuals and families in our area.

The Ambassadors have worked extensively with organizations, such as Habitat for Humanity, Boys & Girls Clubs, Big Brothers Big Sisters and American Red Cross, as well as Rotary, Optimist, Lions and Kiwanis clubs in communities throughout the U.S., performing more than 200 shows a year. These shows have helped raise millions of dollars - an accomplishment of which Ambassadors President Dale Moss is very proud.

"It feels good to be able to provide quality entertainment and create memories that the fans will take with them," Moss explained. "We're able to give even more when we can help provide funding for a Habitat for Humanity house or new computers for the school library, and that feels great."

The Ambassadors will be the main event for the Cortland Area Cares Community Fundraiser on October 29.  Ticket Prices will be $7.00 for Adults and $5.00 for Children & Students 18 years and under.  For Ticket and Sponsorship Information on this special family-oriented event check out Upcoming Events link on our Rotary Club of Cortland home page.  This promises to be the family community event of the year!
