GOSHEN ROTARY DISTRIBUTES DICTIONARIES

(A neighboring rotary club recently received some nice publicity about their dictionary program. Here is the story.)
Members of the Goshen Rotary, SIUE Rotaract Club and Rotary Club District 6460 Governor gathered at Albert Cassens Elementary to present dictionaries to third-grade students.
Every year for the past eight years on Oct. 10, the Goshen Rotary Club presents dictionaries to all third graders in all District 7 and neighboring parochial schools. Present at Cassens Elementary were Dave Toby, President of the Goshen Rotary Club; Dr. James R. Brooks, Curtis Bailey, Lola Shashack and Will Shashack, all members of the Goshen Rotary Club; Brittany Seiffert, President of the SIUE Rotaract Club; Lucas Essenpreis, and Katlyn Gregov, both members of the Rotaract; and Suzanne Ellerbrock, Rotary Club District 6460 Governor.

So the club stepped up to provide students with dictionaries.
“It’s a lifelong gift that teaches them the importance of words and the American language to make them successful in the business world. . . so we are grooming the youth to be successful businessmen and women,” said Toby.
This year the Rotary Club gave out approximately 570 dictionaries to area third graders.
Every third grader who received a dictionary will keep it in their desk and use it throughout the year and when the year is over, they get to keep them.
Cassens Elementary principle Martha Richey said, “It’s a great gift to our students. They are very much used. They help with their vocabulary development, spelling and increasing their word knowledge so we are thrilled to have such a nice gift from the Rotary Club.”
