Good Morning fellow Rotarians and welcome to another news report on the events of the immediately previous Friday morning meeting.  It was another stellar Student of the Month meeting with Nikki Grey-Rutamu as Master of Ceremonies.  This meeting seemed to return to the days of old with Club member and DHS principal Will Brown demonstrating sincere excitement with introductions.  His agility of oral expression is commendable.  Nikky Grey-Rutamu also handled the introduction of Rotary and the introduction of the group Students of the Month creating a once standard standing ovation by the members, participating teachers, and proud parents.  Nice job Nikki.

As the students trailed outside with Club photographer Bud Harmon, substitute per diem president Will Portello attempted to start the regular meeting with an attention mandate of a two fingered whistle.  Maybe absent, regular president Chuck Cunningham had the Club bell with him.  Will started the regular meeting by reading a sincere thank you note from Cynthia Gerber for the conduct of the second annual presentation of the Jay Gerber Award.  The ceremony was awesome and exciting.  A separate report on the will be presented in a special edition of the Get Up & Go in the near future.

Acting President Will Portello then asked for announcements, and was rewarded with a stampede of event organizers.  Roy Kroener arose to remind the Club members that the Berryessa Gap Multi Club Social will be held on Thursday, May 30th, from 5:30 to 6:30 PM.  It is located at 27260 Highway 128 just to the West of Winters.  Rose Cholewinski, Vanessa Errecarte, and Meaghan Likes announced that the 2015 Davis Community BBQ will be held at Central Park on Saturday, May 16th.  It will be catered by Ludy’s Main Street BBQ Restaurant.  We will be selling tickets at the rate of $35 for adults, $10 for children under 12 years old, and free fare of children under 5 years old.  It was explained that the purpose of the event is people participation first, Rotary community showcase second, and somewhere down the line, money.  So do not just purchase your allotment of tickets.  Sell your tickets to those who will attend.  If you cannot sell your allotment, it is preferred that you turn them back and they will be distributed to other Club members for sale.  The event will sport a ribs dinner, a beer garden, live music (Jim Hilliard Quartet & Roadhouse Five), silent auction, kids zone, and pie palooza.  You can purchase tickets on line at: http://ribsandrotary2015.eventbrite.comEllen Davis, the President Elect of UCD Rotaract Club, and Regina Mayta, the Vice President elect of the UCD Rotaract Club, attended our meeting to pitch a charity dinner event at AGR Hall on the UCD campus on May 2nd at 6:00 PM.  The event is to raise funds for the purchase of some of the contents of the Rotaract Club’s creation and distribution of Baby Packs for new moms in Brazil. Baby Pack items that are not purchased, but rather sewn and knitted, are baby bonnets and bibs. The cost of the dinner is $35 per person.  Andrew Yang announced that this year’s Grad Night will take place on Friday, June 12th.  Andrew has created a blog for the purpose of keeping participating Club Members informed.  The link for the blog is www.davissunriserotarychinaroad.blogspot.comNathalie Minya Mukome arose to promote an event.  Hats Off to Diversity High Tea will happen on June 7th at the John Natsoulas Gallery from 3:00 to 5:00.  Proceeds of the event are reserved for educating girls around the world and promoting literacy in Davis.
