This morning felt like summer may finally be in the rear-view mirror.  What that also means is that our Oktoberfest event is getting closer.  More on that later.

President Tim Daleiden opened up the meeting to the usual tunes.  After that I felt like I was at a Simon and Garfunkel concert listening to the “Sounds of Silence”.  Even with my hearing aid I could barely hear anything.  That is why I have only one more date as a reporter.  Reminder to all, the microphone has to be pointed to your mouth not away from it.  So as always, the following is what I thought I heard…

Our In Pro Per was Davis Senior High School Principal Tom McHaleMcHale initially said he went to UC Davis then realized he meant UC Berkeley (all Cal grads wish that Tom!).  He got his Masters at either Stanford or Sacramento State.  He spent one year in Japan where he met his wife.  They have two daughters.  We know one of them is smarter than Tom because she chose UC Davis.

Tom has been at DHS for a long, long time. He has been the principal since 2017, vice-principal before that.  Since I have had three kids go to DHS with the third graduating in June (if the river don’t rise), I feel fortunate to have had quality people like Tom McHale guiding DHS while they have gone there.

Oktoberfest is this Saturday night if you read this after Saturday September 28th.  As usual it is in Central Park.  Pasty Inouye and Joe Uzarski were busy with handing out tickets and signing up volunteer workers.  It is a big club fundraiser.  Marc Thompson was looking for help setting up (bring a blower if you have one) and clean up.  If you are giving your tickets away please give them to people who will buy more beer so we can make more money!  If you don’t have any friends like that ask Irish McHale.  He might know some people from County Yolo who enjoy a pint.  If not he is not around ask Chuck Snipes.

Other announcements came from Elma Gardner, David Murphy, Brodie Hamilton, and Gretchen Peralta.  There is a community service meeting on October 9th.

The Sergeant of the day was John Morgan.  Picking up the fines for him was Clay Brandow.  Happy bucks came from Irena Asmundson, Vanessa Erracarte, Meaghan Likes, Keith Watenpaugh (found his comb btw), Tom Read, David Morse, Carolyn Stivers, and Larry Greene.  Morgan fined some female members, as well as Dan Cason, and Andrew NEWMAN!

Don Winters then introduced students that attended Rotary summer camps including Camp Royale and Venture.  They were Kate Meinert, Carson Bain, Raza Shazil, Casey McNamara, and Tate Chatfield.

There were 28 cards and $1053 in the pot.  Dave Heard says the pot only gets bigger!
