What $1,000 Can Do

Paul Harris Fellows make a difference. A gift of $1,000 will fund projects and programs to improve and invigorate the lives of people around the world and enhance international friendship and understanding. Here are examples of what The Rotary Foundation can do with $1,000.

1.    Provide transportation to Belgium for a member of a Group Study Exchange team from Haiti for five weeks of home-stay and learning about his/her profession in another country.

2.    Provide 10 shallow tube wells in Bangladesh that will double the rice production and triple the vegetable production of small farms.

3.    Provide orthopedic surgery, crutches, braces or wheelchairs, and rehabilitative training for seven polio victims in Malawi.

4.     Provide pacemakers for two indigent individuals int eh Caribbean.

5.    Contribute school supplies for more than 1,200 needy children in Guatemala.

6.    Give nutrition training to 127 women in Thailand’s poorest region, introducing them to nutritional foods and following up on nutritional development of their children.

7.    Provide one month’s living expenses and books for a Rotary Foundation scholar from Ghana who is studying in Canada.
