Background on “Reaching Our Goal”

The Thompson Valley Rotary Club, with support from the City of Loveland, Brinkman, Inc., Rotary International and several donors created a sculpture installation in The Foundry in Downtown Loveland. The art installation was coordinated/sponsored by the Thompson Valley Rotary Club (which was chartered in April 1989) to celebrate its 30th year in Loveland.

The Artist/Installation: Loveland artist Denny Haskew created the sculpture which depicts a woman reaching out to help a teenage boy scale up a steep ledge. The sculpture is titled “Reaching Our Goal” and reflects an ongoing commitment to improve the lives of people in the community, country and around the world.

Two massive stone benches as well as a table with an etched map of the world are also part of the installation.
        
The installation also includes three monolithic narrative stone – one from Thompson Valley Rotary Club, one from Rotary International and one from the City of Loveland.

Material/Size of Structure: The 10 x 10-foot sculpture includes three large stacked rocks made with 20 tons of Dakota sandstone and two bronze figures. The National Sculptors’ Guild oversaw the installation in November 2018.

Budget: The “Reaching Our Goal” installation project is valued at approximately  $170,000. Thompson Valley Rotary Club and its foundation contributed approximately $68,500. One of the narrative stones will list the names of all donors who gave more than $5000 for the project.
