CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Day of Service Project was successful! 10 Rotarians showed up to the back side of West Side park. There is a park dedicated to World War One Veterans. Paterson is in the process of revamping the park. Sandy Bosque is going to get ahold on Tony to see if we can help. Juan Hernandez says that they have money. There is a $500 grant and he will get the equipment. An opportunity to take that park over will be presented to the Board of Directors for a vote. Suggested to go to Debra Hoffman to help with grant writing
John Susani on Gift of Life Child. He is home, mother is sending photos. He is mending well. There is a large box in John's office that has been packed with more items and shipped to Alejandro's house. GOL is asking for some money to reimburse the plane tickets that will be going to the Board.
The Club asked John Susani to present a Paul Harris Award to Erika Baldino for her commitment to the club. Her company donated $2,00 to the Paterson Rotary Club Foundation, she has been instrumental on as a Board of Director, Fundraiser Co- Chair as well as website editor and now District Communications volunteer.
Rosie Grant is looking for volunteers to work the 50 book club. It is young kids in a book club. Thursday June 1st, 4 to 7 pm at Paterson Free Public Library - need volunteers to distribute certificates, help with arts and crafts, face painting , library set up and take down.
Our next Rotary lunch meeting will take place on June 8th, 2023 at The Brownstone - Brett Holloran will be presenting.

This Meeting's Speaker: Bernie Kerik
Our guest speaker is Bernard Kerik. He is the 40th commission of the NY Police Department. He joined in 1986, he served from 1998 to 2000 as the commission of NYC Dept of Corrections. He oversaw the NYC Police Department's response to the Twin Tower Attack on September 11th.
Bernie was born in Newark NJ. When he was 8, he moved to Paterson. Bernie joined the military and worked for the King of Saudi Arabia. He came back to the United States and was a corrections officer and then Warden in Passaic County jail. He was the youngest Warden in state history. He left and started from the ground up as a patrolmen for NYC. He was also an undercover cop in the narcotics division. He met then Mayor Rudy Giuliani who asked him to help out at Rikers Island. A year and half later, September 11th hit. He was on Ground Zero when the second plane hit.
He urges action within the community if you have a problem with the direction of the city, He says groups like Rotary are the leaders of the communities and he proud to see them thrive.
