Welcome! We're so glad you're here!

Hackensack Rotary is part of Rotary International which consists of 33,000 clubs with 1.2 million members. Clubs are organized in virtually every country in the world. The Rotary Club of Hackensack was chartered in 1920 and its members represent a variety of business and professional members. Simply stated our goal is to provide service to the Hackensack community and its people.

Men and women of Rotary gather weekly, so they can be of service to others. Representatives of all professions and industries are equally needed and welcomed. Everyone searching for a way to use his or her talents and experience as a means of giving back to the community is sure to find a home in the Rotary family. Please stay awhile. William B. Boyd, Rotary International President in 2006-07 stated "The projects that stand out in my mind the most are those that are meeting real needs and quietly changing lives. Those projects have very literally moved the courses of lives by giving people education, improved health, and a real chance at a better future. In some cases, Rotarians invested tremendous resources of time, energy, and their own funds. In others, all that was needed was a knowledgeable and caring person to step in, look around, and do what needed to be done."

What is Rotary

The Rotary motto "Service Above Self" begins to answer that question. But more specifically;

Rotary Club members are volunteers who work locally, regionally, and internationally to:

  • Combat hunger
  • Improve health & sanitation.
  • Provide education & job training.
  • Promote peace.
  • Eradicate polio (shockingly still a threat around the world).
  • Accomplish much, much more on the local town level, through wide-ranging community service projects.

In addition, Rotary strives to promote high ethical standards and

Rotarians are guided in all endeavors by the Four-Way-Test:

1. Is it the truth?

2. Is it fair to all concerned?

3. Will it build goodwill and better friendships?

4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
