Excerpt from recent blog. "Once we decided on a topic, it came down to choose an implementation site. Again, it would have to be a location with demonstrative need; we chose Togo, a small, overlooked country of 6 million on the western coast of Africa. In particular, our project would be based in Togoville, an actual city located on Lac Togo, whose population suffers high morbidity and mortality rates from treatable diseases such as typhoid, giardia, Hep A, and schistosomiasis. High rates of infection are a result of drinking, bathing, and cooking from the stagnant, bacteria-filled Lac Togo, their main water source.
