Looks like newly elected Rotary President Steve Chaplin hit the road running by signing a $3000 check representing this year’s Rotary donation to the Milford Area Humanitarian Coalition (MAHC) Summer Meals Program. The ceremonial check was signed on June 27th at Bethany Christian Church (BCC) Downtown on Main Street in Milford when BCC hosted Rotary to celebrate the opening of its doors as a MAHC summer meals service center.
During the luncheon visit, Rotarians were served the same meal served at all MAHC "summer meal" locations including BCC Downtown, the Milford Youth Center, and Memorial School.
Rotarians were welcomed to BCC Downtown by Pastor Phil McCutchen who spoke about the congregation’s vision for BCC Downtown and the church’s overall commitment to serving the local communities through its many outreach programs.
Following lunch, Pastor Phil and his wife Cheri shared a video featuring many of the churches outreach programs. Cheri, who serves as the director of BCC’s non-profit organization Compassion New England, noted that “CNE exists to spread hope & love throughout the community through endeavors such as the Blessing Barns in Milford and Mendon, The Happy Place program (which assists individuals with intellectual disabilities and families with children with special needs) as well as Celebrate Recovery and Food Pantry program. CNE also offers classes for GED Prep Studies and English as a Second Language. Cheri is also a Director of the Bethany Christian Academy located on the church’s Mendon Campus.
Rotary and MAHC are proud to welcome BCC’s participation in the summer meals program.
Rotary is especially excited about the $3000 donation to MAHC. The larger than normal donation was made possible through a $1500 Matching Grant from Rotary District 7910’s Rotary Foundation Grant Program. MAHC expects to serve over 8000 meals during its Summer Meals Program this year.
