District Governor Klaus wasn't just dreaming today-he was full of energy and enthusiasm when he addressed the Milford Rotary Club during his annual visit. After participating in the club's business meeting, Klaus was the speaker at today's luncheon. He spoke about the good things the club is doing and encouraged the club to keep up the good work. He also spoke in detail about Rotary's push to eradicate all three types of polio and how this "can be and will be accomplished" with the benefit of the $100 million challenge grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. He pointed out that since 1986 Rotary has vaccinated over 2 billon kids- that's 1/3 of the worlds population. Klaus said that kind of an accomplishment speaks well to the "Respect & Trust" that Rotary enjoys throughout the world. He noted that in one day alone, we vaccinated 200 million kids in India. Wow- that's not even a DREAM --it's a fact.- It's truly Rotary making " DREAMS COME TRUE". Klaus said, "sometimes we as Rotarians fail to understand the value of what Rotary does" and "we fail to educate others about Rotary " although, we are attempting to get the word out through an expanded PR program. Klaus said he also feels that we need to focus and emphasize the importance of "Integrity and Ethics" to everyone, but certainly most importantly to the young generation. In keeping with that theme an "integrity-ethics " component will be added to the district's popular RYLA program. Klaus also spoke about the improvements to the districts website and how it will better inform Rotarians about what is going on in the "Rotary World" both at home and abroad. He noted that blogs are being added on a regular basis to encourage our scholars and GSE teams to "stay in touch, so that we can all learn from their experiences. The DREAM MAN WAS ON- CHALLENGING ALL TO 'MAKE DREAMS COME TRUE" as only Rotary can.
