Ellis Introduces Rotary Scholarship Winners

With a great deal of praise and admiration, Milford Rotary Scholarship Chairman Steve Ellis welcomed this year’s scholarship winners and their parents to Rotary’s weekly lunch meeting at the Restaurant 45. Ellis noted that the scholarship luncheon is one of his favorite Rotary meetings of the year. Ellis commented, “That while there is an academic component to the award, there is also a strong focus on community involvement and leadership skills, consistent with the Ideals of Rotary”. Ellis noted, “Each year the process gets more competitive and tougher for the Scholarship Committee to reach a consensus”. He also commended the students for “how they conducted themselves during the “challenging and daunting” interview process. 

Following the opening ceremony, a check for $1000 was presented to: Lindsay Bailey, Nipmuc Regional High School, attending Boston College to pursue a degree in nursing; Kara DiGregorio, Milford High School, attending Springfield College pursing a degree in physical therapy and Katelyn Lasser, Blackstone Valley Tech, attending the University of Tampa to pursue a degree in nursing.
