The Sheriff Comes to Town
Michael Saudino, Bergen County Sheriff visited The Rotary Club of Fair Lawn on August 8th. Sheriff Saudino gave an overview of the responsibilities of this law enforcement agency; an agency which is established under the New Jersey State Constitution. The core job functions of the Sheriff’s Department are security of the courts and jail, the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) and the service of process within the County.
Sheriff Saudino also discussed how the Sheriff’s Office, the largest law enforcement agency in Bergen County, works with local and county police departments. Rotarians were given an overview of the work and responsibilities of members of the Office and the Sheriff’s thoughts and vision of the future of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office.

The Sheriff’s attendance as a guest speaker at our meeting is an example as to how Rotarians seek out to have relevant speakers come to our weekly meetings to inform us of trends, issues and other important information. These speakers allow Fair Lawn Rotarians to gain a wide perspective on the issues surrounding our local and world communities that may spur a Rotarian into action to find a way to assist those in need around the corner or across the globe.
