SWAB YOUR CHEEK FOR EZRA
At the October 15th Fair Lawn High School Interact Club meeting and there was an announcement about an upcoming bone marrow registry event to assist a local child. This bone marrow registry event, sponsored by the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation is scheduled to be held on Sunday November 7, 2010 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Ahavat Achim,
Ezra is an eighteen month your old that has a rare primary immune deficiency disorder called Hyper IgM Syndrome and is in need of a bone marrow transplant to survive. Since tissue type is inherited, Ezra’s best chance of finding a genetically matched donor lies with those of Jewish ancestry, however there are many patients of all backgrounds in need of donors for transplants, we everyone is encouraged to join the registry.
Registration involves a simple cheek swab. Eligible donors must be between the ages of 18-60 and in general good health, meet the guideline and willing to donate to any patient, at any time worldwide.
For more information about how to help Ezra, interested persons are urged to contact Robin Fineman at help4ezra@gmail.com.
