On June 30th, The Rotary Club of Fair Lawn hosted some of the Fair Lawn High School Seniors that received scholarships to continue their educational goals after graduation.  Also in attendance was one of the junior year students that participated in the 2011 RYLA program.  Each student gave a brief introduction of them self and described their aspirations for life after Fair Lawn High School.  Each scholarship winner had an interesting story as to how and why they choose their school and field of study.  These students will be continuing their education in a variety of locations around the country and will be undertaking thought-provoking and exciting course work this Fall in a very diverse range of subjects.

Our RYLA attendee described how this program enhanced her leadership skills through the many challenges presented to the entire RYLA group.  There was discussion as to how these challenges have prepared her to take leadership roles in the activities she participates in and how it has prepared her for her senior year of high school and beyond.

The Rotary Club of Fair Lawn awarded $6,000 in scholarships to 4 FLHS students continuing their education.  Fair Lawn Rotarians are proud to be one of the largest scholarship providers to our students.  Each of the four FLHS Juniors selected to attend the Annual RYLA Program were fully sponsored by The Rotary Club of Fair Lawn as well.  Both of these programs, scholarships and RYLA, are an important aspect of how Rotary serves the youth of our community.  Each of these programs assists our youth as they grow to take leadership roles in our community.
