Rotary Supporting Children, Encouraging Reading
The Rotary Club of Fair Lawn presented a $500 gift to the Maurice M. Pine Library on June 24th in support of the Children's Summer Reading Program. Club President Joanne Kwasniewski stated that Rotary has been a long time supporter of the library and in these tough economic times Rotary's support of institutions such as our library is more important than ever. This gift will be utilized to purchase 500 books for our Children's Summer Reading Program according to Kate Nafz, head of the library's Children's Department. This program encourages children in our community to read during their summer vacation. The program also includes prizes and an end of summer party for all participants.
This year the theme of the children's summer reading program, which runs from July 6th to August 13th, is "Make a Splash… Read".
