On August 22nd, Fair Lawn Rotarians presented a check in the amount of $577.50 to Marianne Pettineo on behalf of Fair Lawn’s ADA Advisory Committee.  These funds were a portion of the proceeds from Fair Lawn Rotary’s Fuel Your Summer Adventures Mini 50/50 Cash Raffle.  Marianne made a presentation to the Rotary Club outlining where the Committee stands with the construction of the 1st Phase of the Inclusionary Playground to be constructed at Berdan Grove.  Construction of Phase 1 is expected to commence in the spring of 2014.

The funds presented are earmarked for the 2nd Phase of playground construction, which is geared towards younger children aged 2 to 5 years old to complement the play-structure for older children envisioned for Phase 1.

The play equipment is designed to allow children with different abilities to play with each other, side-by-side.  This area will also include a smooth surface to allow wheelchairs and carriages/strollers to easily roll to the play structures.

Fair Lawn Rotarians are glad to be part of this endeavor to open up play facilities to all children regardless of their abilities”, stated Irv Kleinberg, current Club President, “Rotary is always seeking ways to improve the lives of those living in our local community”.
