Making Up Is Easy To Do

So, you travel a lot, you get bogged down at work and can’t escape from your desk, that important telephone call you’ve been waiting for comes just as you’re leaving to attend your Rotary Club meeting. With all that’s going on around you, you don’t think you have the time to make that weekly Club meeting. Well, there is a way to keep up with making Rotary meetings and Fair Lawn Rotarian Stu Herrmann has this to say about it….

Do a make up meeting!

A make up meeting can be fun, exciting and interesting. I have done many local make ups and learned many things about my own community and those towns around me. I have made contacts both personal and even business. In many clubs, the cost of a make up is reimbursed if you pay for all your meetings in advance.

I have also done make ups around the country and world. Over the years I have made up meetings in San Francisco, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Florida, Long Branch NJ, Cape May, NJ, London (England) and Paris (France).

Some of our members have 100% attendance because they make up meetings wherever they go.

The make up with the best view was the Pier in San Francisco. The coolest one was in London England, in a very olde British Hotel. The most exciting was in a hotel in Vegas where the 50/50 was more than $10,000 and the number drawn was only 1 away from my ticket! The most gratifying was a Newly Chartered Club in Phoenix that presented me with a 100 year Rotary coin. The farthest I traveled was Paris, France. After taking the underground and a long walk, I finally made it in time. I then sat at a table with English speaking guests and Rotarians from around the world.

Taking a vacation? Go on to www.rotary.org and look for clubs near your destination. You can't always find one that fits your schedule, but why not try? I have always enjoyed meeting new people and local folks who can recommend places to see and local restaurants to eat at. At one make up, a member offered me a discount to visit his restaurant!
