As proud sponsor of Interact in Fair Lawn, The Rotary Club of Fair Lawn is happy to share the following message from Mark Schaefer, President (2011-2012) of The Fair Lawn High School Interact Club:

Current philanthropic activities are as follows:

        I.            Teddy Bear Drive:            For $5, you can purchase a teddy bear to dress up and bring back to Interact.  The Teddy Bears will then be donated to a hospital during the holidays to sick children.

II.            Alzheimer's Walk-a-Thon:          We are raising money to donate to the Alzheimer's foundation.  Each member is raising their own money along with bake sales that we are holding as a club and canning at ShopRite Oct 14-16.  We will participate in the walk-a-thon at Van Suan Park, Paramus, on Sunday, Oct. 23.     III.            Holiday Toy Drive:          This program delivers toys to children at Paterson’s School 6.  We will be starting our toy-raising in November.

There are more activities in the planning stages at this time and information will be shared with Rotarians and Friends of Rotary as the information comes available.

The FLHS Interact Club will also be assisting both Rotary Clubs serving Fair Lawn in their upcoming 20th Annual Spaghetti Dinner to be held at FLHS on November 2nd.  Once again Interact Club Members will be serving up delicious Italian dinners in support of Rotary Charities.

The Club leadership is also working with The Rotary Club of Fair Lawn in finding ways to work together to help meet Rotary International’s goal to End Polio. RI is “this close” to ending this disease worldwide; follow this link for more information in Rotary’s efforts to improve the world we live in: http://www.rotary.org/en/ServiceAndFellowship/Polio/HelpEradicatePolio/Pages/Contribute.aspx

The Rotary Club of Fair Lawn wishes The FLHS Interact Club well as they show that leadership and philanthropy is alive and well in today’s high school students.
